How to achieve HAPPINESS? In today’s world?

I know people say, it’s within yourself to be happy and it’s a choice, but I think it’s more than that. It may involve neurology, psychiatry/psychology, our own makeup, our life experiences, and how our environment/other people affect us.
There are many reasons NOT to be happy, and be miserable and cynical, but instead of writing about that, as the topic is totally played out and everyone gets a dish of cynicism every day, let’s focus on how to get happy.
Bills, shortcomings, failures, maybe even successes we had, but weren’t good enough, all of the things that we have to endure, is there a way to remain calm, happy, and optimistic even during trying times?
